Our mission is to improve treatments for patients whose medical needs are currently poorly met or unmet. Sherwood will focus upon the development of wound care technology for chronic, non-healing wounds. Such wounds may persist for months or even years. They may be caused by infection, burns, pressure sores or underlying pathologies, such as diabetes or circulatory problems. The elderly are particularly susceptible to developing chronic wounds. Thus, the discovery of effective treatments is becoming increasingly important amongst the ageing populations of the developed world.
